Unlike previous occasions this visit was to the Ironmongers Hall as Butchers Hall in London is now closed and will be for the following four years for redevelopment of the area around it and refurbishment of the Hall itself.
The Master and the Clerk were both invited to attend the meeting of the Court of Assistants of the Worshipful Company prior to attending the Livery Luncheon.
At the luncheon the Master took his place on the top table along with the other guests of the Company, Mr Chris Cummings Chief Executive, The City UK, Mr James Crockatt, Prime Warden , The Worshipful Company of Dyers, and Mr Robin Furber, Master of The Worshipful Company of Pewterers.
‘it gave me great pleasure and delight as Master of the York Butchers Gild to have been the Guest of the Worshipful Company on the occasion of their Court of Assistants Meeting and Livery Luncheon, along with our Clerk Jean Sawdon.
We were made most welcome by the Master and his Court members along with all present at the Livery Luncheon. I feel that closer links with our fellow company in London have been further advanced during my period in office and sincerely hope that future liaison will potentially lead to more frequent activity of a combined nature between the two Companies.’
